Accordion Coffee Table

Going to start making more regular blogs!

I had the idea for the accordion coffee table a few years ago and last summer finally got round to making it. It’s constructed from Scottish Elm.
A diatonic reed block was used and I was limited to two chords (one out and one in). After much thought decided to go for Amen. The only other options I could think of were the Jaws and Psycho theme tunes which I didn’t fancy too much.
The reeds were tuned by Mr Robert Rolston of Manfrini accordions & the table was displayed at the opening of the new Manfrini showroom where it was played by Phil Cunningham and various other accordion legends.
The prototype table can be seen on the Youtube link below and you can now order yours from www.woodeyefurniture.co.uk . Each table is hand crafted and takes up to eight weeks from confirmation of order.
There are a couple of new musical furniture ideas in the pipeline. Keep an eye on the facebook pages for updates.

Ceilidh Experience new lineup (Summer 2012)

Well, We’re going to start writing blogs!
2012 has been great so far with the all new Experience line up. Last Summer Nawaz Haq beat off competition from over 20 other electric guitarists who auditioned for the band.
We spent a lot of time over the winter shut in a rehearsal room arranging and writing new material. Although the melodies are folk based, having the guitar has enabled us to move in a completely new direction with the band’s sound and we’ve been working a lot on bass lines, techno riffs etc.
Our fiddler Paul Godfray has designed an elaborate effects pedal board set up for his electric fiddle and we’ve also been using midi and effects on the accordion bass.

I’ve been working closely with Excelsior Pigini, (a famous accordion manufacturer in Castelfidardo, Italy) over the past couple of years. They’ve now built me a custom accordion especially designed for the ceilidh rock band, and called it The Norminator! I’m going to have the tuning altered slightly and it should be ready to rock for August.

Archie MacFarlane (our official photographer) is currently editing the latest shoot so new pictures coming soon...
We’ve also been working on some new demo tracks and have a new video in the pipeline. We start filming for that in September so it’s all very exciting!
Keep an eye on our FB gig diary and you’ll hear about any live shows which are open to the public: www.facebook.com/ceilidhexperience

Hopefully see you at a gig somewhere soon!

Cheers,  Norman  www.ceilidhexperience.com
